EFAcast - Valley of Arts
In this episode, Simon Mundy meets Natália Oszkó-Jakab, Director of the Valley of Arts Festival.
The largest all-arts festival in Hungary takes place from 18 till 27 July 2024.
The Valley of Arts Festival is like a 10-day contemporary art gathering, where not only the musical genres meet, but also literature, theatre, dance and circus arts, films, photography or contemporary art. The Valley is like an island of peace, where everyone can relax: to party until dawn, listen to their favorite bands, to do crafts or start the day with yoga or hiking.
This year, 2,961 programmes are waiting for festival-goers for the three settlements of the Valley of Arts, and several new venues will be added to the festival: the SimBio Court, the floor of the MűvészWorld’s Valley will be organised with a separate courtyard, around the relationship between Romani Design, the arts and the environment. This year, several museums will join the Valley of Arts: the Hungarian Museum of Technology and Transport, the MODEM Centre for Modern and Contemporary Art, the Budapest City Archives, the Museum of Ethnography, the Dezső Laczkó Museum, the Adaptér, the Hungarian Museum of Commerce and Hospitality, the Postal Museum, and the Hungarian Museum of Architecture and Cultural Centre also provide an interactive exhibition.
This year’s theatrical premiere of the Valley of Arts will be Tikk-Takk Boom, starring Márk Ember, Gergelly Csillly and Enikő Dobó. The complete programme is now available at www.muveszetekvolgye.hu and in the free programme booklet. Let’s see what we can do this year.
